On the banks of the Broye

The subsoil of the Moudon region is essentially composed of marine molasses from the Tertiary era. It is sand mixed with green minerals which over the millennia have been compacted under the weight of sediments. Along the Broye River and under the Upper Town, one can admire these cliffs and their clearly recognisable strata.

Perched on a hill, this military fortress is made of two distinct parts: the gothic castle (13th century) and the Bernese castle (16th century). Today in private hands, it can be rented for events. Temporarily open for visits.

The Bear Island is a pond mined during the exploitation of the gravel pit on the left bank. It is being fed by a small stream, the Vaucignery, which springs in the forest upstream. It is likely you see beavers, red-legged crayfish and perch among others.
